Our tribal people used ever part of the animals that were killed for food and the horns of the animal made many useful items.  This horn would have be used as a serving spoon, for digging or scooping water. Today these beautiful items are often collected or used in the sweat lodge to pour water.

Quill work predates the more popular bead work seen on many items today.  It is a laborious process of collecting, cleaning and shorting quills before any other work can be done.  Then the quills must be sorted again and dyed before the weaving can begin.  Each quill is intricately woven to produce the colorful pattern seen.
