Volunteer Support

Testimonials

We would like someone to help in our gift shop and participate in our annual gathering which is usually the 4th week in July as well as various events during summer time. We also need some support in social networking or whatever you can do to help the world finds us. Volunteers can do a variety of jobs from working in our gift shop, social network support, help in the office, writing, documentation, gardening, setting up tipis, repairs to our old brick building and more.

Volunteers are an important part of our organization and it is a great way to give back to the community we all live in. for many years we are supported by many people from around the world. This gives a great opportunity to learn from each other.

We prefer people who wants to stay with us for a minimum of 2 weeks up to several months. Please only no smoking Volunteers.

Testimonials

Paul, Workaway.info, 2013:
I only stayed a week here but they opened up their home and family from day one and made me feel really welcome. They are really passionate about the town of Pipestone and their Indian heritage.
I learned a lot about the history of the town, the Tribal people and the importance of the Pipestone quarries in traditional Indian culture.
A short detour from the Interstate brought me to a town steeped in history from the early pioneer era not to mention the huge significance of the area to Indian Tribal people.
Really pleased I spent some time here and with the family, just a shame I couldn't of stayed longer.
Denise, Switzerland, 2014 / 2015:
I met Bud and Rona during a pipe making workshop in Switzerland. In 2014 I came for three months and stayed in the end for six months, because I had such a great time!! Bud is a great storyteller and he shares all his knowledge with an open mind. Rona is an inspired artist and she addicted me with native indian crafts. I went home with many treasures I made during my stay like different beading works, pipe, drum, parfleche box, and sweetgrass basket. And Camas, their daughter is a great sweet spirit and she helped me to improve my english, sang many beautiful native songs and touched my heart just with her beautiful being. A highlight was to live in a tepee in their backyard. This family does a very great job for their community and the indian native culture. They impressed me so much in everything they do, so I just came back in 2015 for another tree months to support them. Here some impressions I like to share.
