Ashinaanan (15 in Ojibwe) Game
Ashinaanan means 15 in the Ojibwe language. My daughter and I learned the simple game years ago and modified and used it to engage people in groups. We named it Ashinaanan because my daughter was learning her native language Ojibwe and it seemed right. It is fun because it is so simple and takes only a few minutes. Almost anyone can play but winning requires thinking and strategy.
The game includes 15 sea urchin spines, shells or other fun natural items in a soft handmade leather bag and instructions.
This game can be played with two or three players ages three and up. Small piece maybe not appropriate for children under three years of age.
The rules are simple. Open the bag and remove the piece put them on the ground, table, basket or bowl. Each player chooses and takes one to three spines, the next player repeats and the player who takes the last one loses.
